For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive . . . for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as a results of works, so that no one may boast. (I Cor 15:22; Eph 2:8,9)

WE ARE BACK!

Going to Auburn you might see this kind of sign--however, it would have a deer instead of an elephant. We did spot giraffe, warthogs, baboons and zebra on the side of the road. Never saw an elephant though.
On this major highway we hardly passed another vehicle. Notice that it is only 2 lanes.
This road is the major highway that took us to the Himba territory. The place that we drilled for was about 45 miles north. This was the scenery that we experienced the whole way up.
It is hard to see, but most people lived in these type huts.

This is the 1/2 ton truck that hauls the tanks for the water, which is needed to drill through the earth. Every hour or so while drilling, we had to siphon water from the local pond, watering hole or wherever we could find water.

We are back and trying to process all that has taken place in the north of Namibia. We drilled for 4 days in this one area, but were never able to get to water. The water situation there is desperate. I will report on that later.

I will document our trip in increments with pictures. Africa is such a vast land. We drove for 10+ hours and passed through only 5 little towns--the rest was bush, bush, and more bush. We were able to be with the Himba people everyday. They came out everyday to watch us drill and stare at us like we were staring (but trying not to) at them. At first it was strange to be around a bunch of topless women, but as time went on we got used to it. We even went to a church service with some dancing Himba women :) . Since we were their guest, they had a special song and dance for us.

Drilling is very hard and grueling work. To drill they had to find the local watering hole where the livestock and the people drink from. I will post pictures that show this--the woman filling up her container or bucket in the same place that the cows, sheep, goats, etc. drink from (and pee & poop in!).

I found out that the Himba are one of the classified 'unreached people group,' yet the gospel is penetrating this tribe because there have been people praying for them through the 10/40 window. Nonetheless, ancestral worship, animism & witchcraft are a pressing force which needs to be dealt with. Will you pray for these people? I will post some pictures.

There was a sweet old Himba man, Jamba, that became our friend and sat with us everyday. He had a giving heart, unlike many of them that only wanted to take--like the shirt off my back, demanding I take it off that very moment.

Thank you so much for praying for us. Stay tuned for pictures and explanation.
