I hope you are enjoying our journey as we observe, work and pray for these people. Today Dale drilled for water and they were able to find water!!!!
I worked with the house mother and the girls on pottery skills. At lunch time (everything closes down at lunch time here) Elizabeth took me to see a lady that teaches solar cooking. Needless to say I was impressed with the simple box made with Plexiglas and aluminum foil that was baking a cake!!! Elizabeth also talked to a German lady and told her what I was doing. She immediately took us to her storage shed and showed us a potter's wheel. She asked Elizabeth if she could use it. Of course Elizabeth said "YES." The lady struck a deal (a very inexpensive deal) and we took the wheel home with us. Now the workshop is outfitted with a 3rd wheel. We found out later that that wheel cost $3000. if we had bought it from a dealer. The Lord gave the Wilkins another wheel today--I am anxious to see the plans that the Lord has for this ministry concerning pottery. No doubts that the Lord wants pottery here.
Early in the morning (Thursday) we leave for the North of Namibia. We will be gone for about a week. Where we are going there is no electricity or running water, much less Internet access. We are going to both the San people and the Himba. We have been told that the Himba won't let you take pictures. Check them out on google. We will be sleeping in tents and bathing with baby wipes. I am thankful that Denise Adair outfitted me with a Do Rag!! Thanks Denise! Since it is the beginning of Fall here, the climate feels great. I bet we will sleep like babies even though it is out in the bush.
The atheist that I shared the gospel with yesterday went with Dale and Gary to drill. Gary had a nice long conversation with him and shared the gospel with him. Two days in a row he has heard the true gospel. His name is Derek--will you pray for him?
Thanks for your prayers. Pray we find water!! Dale may get to preach again. Supposedly they always get the visitors to preach. Pray for him. And pray that the mosquito don't find us tasty.
Until next week!! Maybe I can sneak a pic of the Himba.
Dale & Kim,
ReplyDeleteI hope things are going well for y'all. If you didn't know, Dean is in Germany, having some surgery for his back. Debbie is with him. They will be there approx. 1 month, for his recovery. Please add them to your prayer list.
Also, did you get my comment about Gary Wilkins? I went with him to Hungary in 1989 with Dawson. Tell him hello!
In His love, Chuck
