When my husband, Dale, and I were in Ireland a few years ago, we had gone to the pub to have dinner and listen to the locals play their traditional Irish music. The pub was packed with those wanting to hear the music and get a cheap bite to eat. We sat with a young man who now lived in Ireland, but was originally from France. We begin to talk about spiritual things. He stated that he was not Catholic (the national religion) because it was an ancient religion and he was a progressive. We shared with him that we were not Catholic but we were followers of Jesus Christ. He was astounded that we would follow a man that had died two thousand years ago. I quickly stated, "But He is not dead, He is alive." His reaction was one that I had never seen before. His whole body jumped as if he had been hit by lightening, and said, "Jesus is alive?"
Amazing that there are those who may be 'progressive', but have never heard that Jesus is alive. Of course, it may seem like a myth, but little do they know that He is real and He is alive. Because He is alive, every individual must grapple with what they will do with who He is.
He is the creator of the Universe. Colossians 1:15-17, 19-20a states, He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things and in Him all things hold together . . . For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
And He came to rescue all mankind from themselves--to set them free from their sin. Romans 5:6-8 tells us, For while we were helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, that that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 6: 9 tells us that Jesus has been raised from the dead and that death no longer has mastery over Him. If we would only be united with Him by faith, we will also walk with Him in new life. He is the fountain of youth.
He is the one true God and He lives today!! This is the point and this makes life worth living . . .
